Frenigy

Meet the Team

Team Frenigy are a bunch of Masters level students, currently studying at Swansea University’s FIT lab, which is based in the Computer Science Department.

The name “Frenigy” is a play on the words ‘Friends’ and ‘Energy’.

Just in case you didn’t know, we’re currently competing in Microsoft’s Imagine Cup 2010.

Abigail Cauchi

Abigail CauchiAfter obtaining my Bachelor’s degree from the University of Malta I spent six months working in India when I realised that I would like to study a Masters-level HCI course at the FIT Lab in Swansea.

Aside from travelling and learning about new cultures, I enjoy working with children, playing musical instruments (which unfortunately makes the boys grouchy) and experimenting with photography and other art forms.

Richard Jones

Richard 'George' JonesLike the others I am also studying a MSc in Computing and Future Interaction Technologies after getting my BSc in Computer Science at Swansea.

My interests are in robotics and new interaction techniques (i.e. more than just a keyboard). My hobbies are playing the guitar, the ukulele, video games, warhammer, socialising on facebook and combing my hair.

Jon Hurlock

Jon HurlockI am currently studying for a MSc level degree at Swansea’s FIT Lab, learning about HCI and computing. I graduated from the University of Wales, Swansea in 2009 with a Bachelors of Science with Honors in Computer Science.

My hobbies and interests include learning and playing about with new technologies (especially web based), watching an unhealthy amount of movies and trying to work out what happens on Steve Day, which occurs monthly. If you would like to know more about me feel welcome to look either here or here.

Steven Welti

Steven Welti
I started my degree in Computer Science in 2005, and graduated from the University of Wales, Swansea in 2008. I then moved back home, and found employment in the electricity industry for a year, which was a great experience. I have subsequently returned to Swansea and started an MSc level degree in Computing and Future Interaction Technologies in the FIT lab, which I hope to complete by October.

My hobbies and interests include taking stuff apart (and putting it back together again), shiny gadgets, and monitoring my home energy use (mainly to ensure I don’t have to spend any more money than I absolutely have to…).

Max Wilson (Academic Mentor)

Max with Tim Berners-Lee
Max is our super cool academic mentor. His main research focus is in Information Seeking and Human Computer Interaction and has been working in the Computer Science Department of Swansea University since the start of 2009.

Before this, he obtained a MEng (in Software Engineering) and a PhD in Computer Science from Southampton University.
